Job Description

The Information Technology Division is seeking a Solution Architect to serve in the Solution Architecture group of Enterprise Architecture. The selected candidate will adhere to defined standards to architect and design software systems; comply with collection of measurements of accomplishments; contribute to the quality and delivery of the technical documentation for software solutions; create overall application architectures, component designs, and systems integration and implementations for a particular business solution; lead a team in defining and documenting the following for a particular solution: requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, system inputs and output. The selected candidate will collaborate with Division Relationship Managers (DRM), DRM Analysts, and users to assess business needs and requirements to translate them into automated solutions; will produce relevant solution design artifacts including but not limited to: technical estimates, conceptual, logical and physical system designs, sequence diagrams, and data models; will coordinate new system development to ensure it is consistent and well integrated with existing application systems and COTS solutions; analyze and estimate feasibility and compatibility with hardware and other programs; will interface with the Enterprise Domain Architects and provide ongoing status; and will consult with clients to prototype, architect, and design applications to meet needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Possess strong knowledge in applied application, information, and integration architecture concepts; possess comprehensive IT analytical skills and strong problem-solving skills; have a working knowledge of various multi-user, multi-tasking operating systems/platforms (Unix, Windows, z/OS); and working knowledge of various development platforms (Java, .NET, SharePoint…); knowledge of enterprise service approaches. Demonstrated skills to produce relevant solution design artifacts including but not limited to: technical estimates, sequence diagrams, data models and conceptual logical and physical system designs; to prepare written communications and presentations; and be proficiently skilled with Microsoft Visio. Demonstrated ability to assess project needs and in support of project managers, help determine resource requirements and provide estimations to meet solution objectives; have a comprehensive knowledge of various software development methodologies (including agile techniques); ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer confidence in ability to deliver to business needs; to develop business capabilities understanding and expertise as implemented through technology suites as assigned; to plan for Quality Assurance; to perform methods to measure work progress; to write and maintain design documentation.
