Job Description
Purpose:
Strong technical skills to manage, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and update software and hardware as necessary to support the company's educational & operational efforts. Provide technical advice and guidance on complex work problems involving educational software. Provide technical support of complex work problems involving computer technology to include workstation & server hardware, networking hardware, networking infrastructure and various operating systems software. Responsibilities include independently installing, updating and management of networks, applications and hardware throughout company.
Knowledge/Skills:
Working knowledge of various Windows operating systems such as XP/Win7/Win10, Server 2008/2012 and associated products to include but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with networks, network devices, desktop hardware, various operating systems and application software in a LAN / standalone environment. Knowledge of administrative and office management principles and practices. Ability to work effectively in a both a team and independent environment. Advanced knowledge of computer software including operating systems and database programs. Knowledge with installing different types of fiber cabling is not required but helpful. This position must be able to perform with minimal direct supervision and may be required to use their home as a base of operation. Significant travel (usually day trips) may be required.
Education
A degree in information technology or related field is preferred or equivalent experience may be substituted. Selected individuals should have certification such as an MSCE, Comptia Net+, Comptia A+ or a combination of these certifications. Selected interview candidates will have a minimum of two years or more work experience in the computer support field. A combination of desktop, server & network support is required.
