Long-Term contract for a Senior Informix DBA with a Richmond, Virginia Client.

Job Summary  
 
We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator to enhance and support database activities in support of enterprise imaging applications. The Case Imaging System (CIS), General District Imaging System (GDIS), JDR Imaging System (JDIS) and Records Management Systems (RMS) are existing production applications that require continuing enhancements, modifications and ongoing database support.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities -  Standard Database Administration duties including: 1) Install software and maintain/enhance performance of database servers 2) Maintain procedures for database design, documentation and coding 3) Set and maintain database performance and security standards 4) Manage database access, capacity and monitoring procedures 5) Performance tuning of database systems as needed 6) Install, upgrade, distribute and manage database releases 7) Support/maintenance of existing shell scripting tools necessary 8) Creation of new UNIX/Linux scripts for deployment as necessary 9) Training, documentation and knowledge transfer of routine procedures to coworkers Minimum Qualifications/Experience   1) Proven working experience as an Informix Database Administrator interfacing with end user applications required (3 years minimum experience) 2) Database backup, recovery, security, integrity, performance, replication and SQL queries in a relational database environment required.   3) Management of Informix blob and smartblob storage experience with images highly desired.  4) Additional consideration given for candidates who have experience with PostgreSQL setup, replication and management  especially in a court environment.   5) Experience integrating Java and .NET imaging applications with Informix or PostgreSQL databases desired. 6) Operating System Experience: Unix/Linux  HPUX and RHEL 7) Backup experience: Informix onbar using DataProtector in an enterprise application. 8) Excellent communication skills 9) Ability to work independently with minimal supervision  10) Ability to interact with other front line and second level support engineers 11) College degree preferred
